The West Los Angeles Veterans Home expressed condolences Monday over the weekend death of a veteran at the facility.
The death was reported at about 1 a.m. Saturday at 11500 Nimitz Ave., according to the California Highway Patrol, which responded to the scene.
The death appeared to be the result of a medical emergency, a CHP spokeswoman said. The person who died was not identified.
“We can confirm that a resident at the West Los Angeles Veterans Home passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3,” Kate Hoit, a spokeswoman for the West Los Angeles Veterans Home, told City News Service.
Hoit said additional personal and medical information about the person who died was being withheld in accordance with state and federal privacy laws.
She added that the facility’s “thoughts are with the veteran’s family and loved ones.”
The 396-bed facility offers long-term health care from the grounds of the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration campus.

Prayers for our Military people. Their families. They are not getting the care they need needed. Especially the homeless.
