“Michael” recaptured the top spot at the box office in its fourth weekend in North American theaters, grossing $26.1 million this weekend, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
The biopic about Michael Jackson, which stars the late pop superstar’s nephew Jaafar Jeremiah Jackson, beat out “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which made $18 million in its third weekend, Comscore reported.
The horror film “Obsession” opened in third place with $16.1 million.
“Mortal Kombat II” was fourth with $13.4 million Friday through Sunday in its second week, followed by “Sheep Detectives,” which made $9.3 million in its second weekend.
“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” was sixth with $4.4 million in its seventh weekend, and has now grossed over $418 million in the United States and Canada.
Rounding out the top 10 releases were “Project Hail Mary” ($3.8 million), a 40th anniversary re-release of 1986’s “Top Gun” ($3.1 million), “In the Grey” ($3 million) and “Is God Is” ($2.2 million).
