Wilbur the pint-sized pig that made a viral run through the streets of West Hollywood has not been claimed by anyone and appeared to be headed for auction Thursday to determine who gets to take the internet sensation home.

The adorable animal has been resting at a shelter in West Los Angeles since it was captured on Saturday, and according to officers at the shelter, a number of people have inquired about adopting him.

The black-and-white pig became an internet sensation after an e-bike rider spotted it running through West Hollywood on a street parallel to Fairfax Boulevard and posted video of the encounter on TikTok.

The speedy pig was eventually corralled and taken to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter, where it was resting comfortably in a pen, occasionally snacking on lettuce and feed or taking a drink to beat the summer heat.

The pig was to be the subject as a silent auction Thursday morning, which shelter officials feel is the fairest way to select a suitable pig parent or parents.

Anyone interested in adopting Wilbur should bring a credit card and arrive at 8 a.m. Thursday at the shelter, 11361 W. Pico Blvd. Prospective owners must demonstrate that their home is suitable for housing what is essentially a farm animal, according to officials at LA Animal Services, which pointed out that zoning regulations and other rules restrict the housing of pigs in city residences.
