Expectant parents apparently could not make it to a hospital on time and instead pulled over and gave birth to their newborn baby on a San Dimas road Thursday.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to a call regarding a possible childbirth around 12:12 a.m. at the intersection of Via Verde Drive and the Orange (57) Freeway, a spokesperson for LAFD said.

The father of the baby called for assistance when his wife went into labor in the car, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.

Video from the scene shows multiple emergency personnel loading a woman holding a small swaddled baby into an ambulance on a stretcher. The mother was alert and speaking to paramedics.
