Eaton Fire survivors and their supporters will announce the launch of a centralized platform to connect wildfire victims with essential state and municipal resources during a press conference hosted by LIFT International at Westminster Presbyterian Church beginning promptly at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
The conference will touch on ”legislative achievements aimed at protecting wildlife survivors,” represenatives for LIFT wrote in a news release. Speakers will also discuss Senate Bill 492, a bill proposed in Sacramento that sought to expedite compensation payments to victims and deny payments to the CEOs of utility companies for a year if their company sparks a fire that kills a person. California lawmakers failed to bring the measure to a vote by Sept. 1, the last day of the 2026 legislative session.
