A hiker fell ill while hiking on a trail in Indio Friday, prompting a response from firefighters who helped the person out of the area.
The “hiker down” call was reported shortly before 10:55 a.m. Friday in the area of Golf Center Parkway and Avenue 42, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Fire officials said crews reached the hiker about one mile into a trail. They determined the person was “not feeling well,” and assisted the hiker back to the trailhead.
The hiker, however, did not require a trip to a hospital.
