Motorists traveling through the Cahuenga Pass were advised Monday to expect overnight lane, ramp and connector closures on the Hollywood (101) Freeway beginning Monday evening as crews perform paving work.
The closures are scheduled to continue through Saturday morning as part of a $24.3 million pavement rehabilitation project, according to Caltrans.
The northbound 101 Freeway will be reduced to two lanes between Highland Avenue and the 170 Freeway from as early as 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday and Tuesday nights, with only one lane available from 2 to 4 a.m.
Southbound traffic will be reduced to three lanes from as early as 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday nights, with only one lane available from 2 to 4 a.m., Caltrans said.
From Wednesday night through Friday morning, up to three northbound lanes will be closed between Highland Avenue and the 170 Freeway from as early as 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with up to four lanes closed from 2 to 4 a.m. Up to two southbound lanes will be closed from as early as 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Additional closures are planned Friday night into Saturday morning, when up to three northbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. and up to four lanes will be closed from 4 to 5 a.m. Up to two southbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Several freeway connectors will also be closed overnight through Friday morning. Numerous on- and off-ramps along the route may also be closed during construction hours.
Detour routes will be marked, and motorists were advised to allow additional travel time.
The work is part of a project to rehabilitate asphalt on freeway lanes, ramps and shoulders and replace or repair concrete slabs. Crews will also replace guardrails, curbs, dikes, a crash cushion and traffic striping and upgrade curb ramps at 23 locations to meet accessibility standards.
The project is expected to be completed in summer 2029.
