A crash on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway between Covina and San Dimas left one person dead Friday and closed four lanes.

The multi-vehicle collision occurred at 3:29 a.m. Friday in eastbound lanes just west of Via Verde Street off-ramp, a California Highway Patrol officer told City News Service.

First responders pronounced one person dead at the scene.

Information regarding what led up to the crash and the name of the person who died were not immediately released.

The collision prompted a SigAlert shutting down the left four eastbound lanes. The closures continued as the morning commute got underway and eastbound traffic on the 10 Freeway was backed up to Barranca Street.
