The Orange County Coroner has identified the pedestrian who was killed in a mutli-vehicle chain reaction collision.  Robert Borkland, 45, died and another pedestrian suffered major injuries when a Honda Pilot hit them and then crashed into five vehicles in the 9800 block of Hamilton Avenue on Friday, Huntington Beach Police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Pilot driven by a 41-year- old woman was crossing Hamilton when it collided with a red 2009 Pontiac G8 driven by a 78-year-old woman and a gray 2003 GMC Yukon driven by a 34-year-old woman, police said.

Borkland was pronounced dead at the scene while the other pedestrian,a 52-year-old man, suffered major injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, police said.

The Pilot driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana along with two passengers — an 8-year-old girl who suffered minor injuries and a 4-year-old boy who appeared to be uninjured, police said. It was unclear if those in the Pilot were from the same family.

The G8 driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center. The driver of the Yukon was uninjured.

Both pedestrians, the drivers of the Pilot and G8 and the two children were from Huntington Beach, while the woman driving the Yukon was from Santa Ana, police said.
