A man who appeared to be about 30 was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Santa Ana Monday night.

The man was struck about 7:40 p.m. at East Fourth Street and North Santa Fe Street, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority.

The man was declared dead at the scene, Concialdi said.

The train took a while to come to a complete stop to allow Santa Ana police and Orange County sheriff’s deputies to interview the engineer.
