A former president of the Parent Teacher Organization for Sun View Elementary School in Huntington Beach pleaded guilty Monday to embezzling from the group.
Gail Diane Monestere, 54, of Huntington Beach, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor grand theft by embezzlement by a public or private officer and felony grand theft, according to court records. Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 6.
Monestere, who was accused of embezzling $22,000 from the organization, wrote unauthorized checks to herself from the organization’s bank account in amounts ranging from $250 to $800, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Monestere was the organization’s president from September 2010 to February 2011, according to prosecutors.
