A two-alarm blaze broke out at an Irvine seafood restaurant Wednesday afternoon, but no one was injured.

Firefighters were called at 2:20 p.m. to McCormick & Schmick’s at 2000 Main St., Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

A waiter saw smoke on second floor and immediately called 911, he said, adding that the 20 workers and 15 customers in the restaurant got out safely.

About 55 firefighters responded and some cut holes in the three-story building’s roof to provide ventilation, Concialdi said. The fire was knocked down by 3:10 p.m., Concialdi said.

The restaurant sustained fire and water damage from the first to third floors and through the attic, Concialdi said.

Damage to the structure was estimated to be about $400,000, and losses to the contents of the restaurant were valued at about $300,000, Concialdi said.
