A 31-year-old man from Long Beach was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm after a seven-hour standoff in Huntington Beach, authorities said Tuesday.

Adam Murdock was arrested around 9 p.m. Monday after he appeared on the balcony of an apartment near the corner of Alabama Street and Indianapolis Avenue, Huntington Beach Police Department Lt. John Domingo said.

The suspect had appeared unannounced and armed with a handgun at a door of the apartment around 1:25 p.m., Domingo said.

A roommate of the suspect’s girlfriend escaped and told police he had fired a round inside the apartment.

Domingo said police recovered a handgun and identified a bullet hole in the apartment after Murdock was arrested.

The suspect’s girlfriend was not harmed, Domingo said.
