Yorba Linda Mayor Craig Young and City Councilman Tom Lindsey appeared to have emerged victorious from an effort to recall them over their rejection of a moratorium on a high-density housing project.
Voters were asked if Young and Lindsey should be removed from office and, if so, then who should replace them. But both retained their seats by comfortable margins, according to unofficial results cited this morning by the Orange County Register.

Recall candidates Jeff Decker and Matt Palmer ran for Lindsey’s seat, and J. Minton Brown and Nancy Rikel ran for Young’s.
Lindsey, Young and Councilman Gene Hernandez voted in October of last year to approve 51 townhouses on about five acres near the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, and this year they approved 80 three-story townhouses.
Both projects faced heavy opposition.
Lindsey and Young have said voters approved two measures in 2012 that boosted residential density in the area and that the property owners have a right to develop the land.
