A 38-year-old Anaheim man was charged Thursday with killing a transgender activist, whose body was found behind a Dairy Queen in Anaheim in June.

Randy Lee Parkerson was charged with one count of murder. He was arrested Tuesday morning while in his vehicle in the 200 block of East Katella Avenue, Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn said.

Parkerson — who made his first appearance in court today, when his arraignment was rescheduled until Oct. 31 — was ordered to be continued held on $1 million bail.

Parkerson is accused of choking 29-year-old Zoraida Reyes, also known as Cesar Reyes, to death, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Parkerson kept the victim’s body in the trunk of his car for a day before dumping it June 11 in the parking lot of a Dairy Queen at 201 N. State College Blvd., according to prosecutors.

The body was found June 12.
