The parents of a 2-year-old boy who was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a home in Santa Ana were questioned and released Saturday pending further investigation.
Officers responding at 1:45 a.m. to a medical aid call in the 2500 block of South Linda Way found that the child, who was in a bedroom, was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Santa Ana police.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene and the boy’s parents were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told reporters that the homicide investigation was launched based on “suspicious circumstances” at the scene.
After the boy was found dead, a search warrant was obtained and served at the residence, he said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, police said.
