A pedestrian who was struck by a car at an Irvine intersection Wednesday was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.
The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was hit by a Kia sedan about 11 a.m. at Bryan Avenue and Patriot Way.
The driver — a man whose name also was not immediately released — was rushed to an area hospital with traumatic injuries, according to Farrah Emami of the Irvine Police Department.
Police closed Bryan Avenue between Culver Drive and El Camino Real North for the investigation.
