A young man was killed this morning when the car he was driving slammed into a signal pole in Irvine, authorities said.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Orchard Hills and Wolf Trail, according to Irvine police and the Orange County Fire Authority.
The victim, 19-year-old Kwame Kwabi of Irvine, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
He was driving an Infiniti Q45 and was the only person in the car, according to Irvine police.
A segment of Orchard Hills was closed while the Irvine police Major Accident Investigation Team investigated the crash.
