A 36-year-old man who works as a science teacher in Placentia has been arrested in Fullerton on suspicion of molesting a girl, although the alleged crime is not related to the suspect’s employment or the school where he works, police said Friday.

Christopher Millette was arrested about noon Wednesday on suspicion of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and sexual penetration of a child under the age of 10, Fullerton police Sgt. Kathryn Hamel said.

The victim was known to Millette, who is employed as a seventh-grade science teacher at Valdez Middle School in Placentia, Hamel said.

“The case is not related to the school and there are no known victims associated with his employment,” she said.

Millette was jailed in lieu of $1 million bail and was due in court on Monday, according to sheriff’s online jail records.

Anyone with information relevant to the case was urged to contact the Fullerton police detective handling the investigation at (714) 738-6754.
