[symple_googlemap title=”Pedestrian Fatal” location=”Edinger Avenue and Maple Street, Santa Ana, CA” height=”300″ zoom=”17″]A pedestrian was fatally struck by a truck in Santa Ana Tuesday, police said.

The man was injured shortly after 6 a.m. at Edinger Avenue and Maple Street and died at a hospital, said Santa Ana police Sgt. Lorenzo Carrillo. Authorities withheld his name, pending family notification.

The truck driver remained at the scene and was interviewed by police, Carrillo said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was crossing Edinger Avenue within or near a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the westbound truck, Carrillo said.

Westbound lanes of Edinger Avenue were closed while an investigation was conducted.
