A 25-year-old DUI driver was hospitalized with head injuries after his out-of-control vehicle plowed into a plumbing store in Garden Grove early Friday, authorities said.
A passenger in the vehicle, a white Lexus, fled the scene after the crash, which occurred around 3 a.m., said Garden Grove Police Sgt. Carl Whitney. The driver attempted to do likewise but was caught in a parking lot near the store in the 10900 block of Garden Grove Boulevard, he said.
Whitney said the vehicle came to rest about 10 feet inside the store, a family-owned business called BJ Discount Plumbing, about 40 yards from the street. The interior of the store was extensively damaged, a news videographer reported from the scene.
The driver, an Anaheim resident, was transported to a hospital in stable condition, Whitney said
