A multi-vehicle crash blocked four lanes of the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Irvine Tuesday, authorities said.
The crash was reported about 8:20 a.m. near Sand Canyon Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP closed the Nos. 1, 2, 3 and HOV lanes while crews worked to clear the scene. It was unclear if anyone was injured.
According to the preliminary investigation, a vehicle exiting the HOV lane apparently collided with a vehicle in the No. 1 lane, and as many as five other vehicles were then involved in the accident, the CHP reported.
