A search for an armed robbery suspect forced students at two Yorba Linda schools to “shelter in place” Wednesday.
Three men robbed a Verizon store at 20615 Yorba Linda Blvd. about 9:50 a.m., according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.
A couple of miles from the store, sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull over a suspected getaway vehicle, prompting the three men to jump out and try to run away, Hallock said. Two of the suspects were caught, but a third eluded deputies until he was caught just after 2 p.m., Hallock said.
The third suspect was caught in the green belt of a residential neighborhood, Hallock said.
Heritage Oak Private School, 16971 Imperial Highway, and Lakeview Elementary School, 17510 Lakeview Ave., had students remain on campus while classes continued, Hallock said.
A handgun investigators believed was used in the robbery was recovered, Hallock said. It appears the robbers stole phones, but no cash, Hallock said.
