A 49-year-old Westminster man found near a bank in Costa Mesa which had a card skimming device attached to an automated teller machine was arrested, police said Tuesday.
The man was taken into custody Sunday afternoon near a Chase bank branch on East 17th Street, said Lt. Greg Scott of the Costa Mesa Police Department.
The man, whose name was withheld, was booked at Orange County Jail for commercial burglary, fraudulently accessing account information, identity theft and possession of a scanning device.
He was freed after posting $100,000 bail.
Customers who suspect their cards may have been compromised at the branch’s ATMs were urged to contact Chase bank security at (714) 754-5637.
