A 21-year-old man shot in his parked car during an attempted robbery in Santa Ana died from his injuries, police said Thursday.
Mansour Alhazawbar of Irvine was shot about 12:10 a.m. on Jan. 19 in the 500 block of South Maxine Street and died about 11:35 a.m. Saturday at Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, according to Santa Ana police.
Alhazawbar was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange immediately after the shooting, police said.
Detectives believe Alhazawbar was in the driver’s seat of his parked vehicle while visiting a friend when he was approached by a gun-wielding suspect who demanded all of his property, police said.
“When victim Alhazawbar told the suspect he had no property to give, the suspect shot the victim one time and fled the crime scene on foot,” according to a police statement.
The suspect was described only as a male with a shaved head.
Anyone with information about the killing was urged to call investigating detectives at (714) 245-8390. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
