The victim of a fatal collision in Costa Mesa involving a sedan and a pickup truck was identified Friday as 32-year-old Alberto Lopez of Clarksville, Tennessee.
The collision occurred in the 2900 block of Fairview Road around 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Orange County coroner’s office reported.
Lopez had exited a supermarket parking lot and was driving on Fairview when his vehicle was broadsided by a northbound pickup truck, said Costa Mesa police Sgt. Joyce Lapointe.
Lopez died at a hospital and a 14-year-old boy who was a passenger in Lopez’s car was hospitalized with moderate injuries, Lapointe said.
