A man was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing an “extended family member” during a birthday party at a home in Anaheim, a police lieutenant said Sunday.

Officers were dispatched about 11 p.m. Saturday to the location in the 1100 block of West Chestnut Street on a report of a stabbing victim inside the residence, said Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn.

Paramedics rushed the victim, a man in his 20s, to UCI Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, Dunn said.

The suspect, Jesus Escobar, 23, was located hiding in a bush nearby the residence, the police lieutenant said. The Fullerton resident was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
