Orange County sheriff’s investigators Tuesday were looking for help identifying suspects in the theft of 10 vehicles from an auto repair shop in Stanton.
The vehicles — sedans, SUVs and trucks from model years 2006-14 — were all taken sometime between Saturday night and Monday morning from Tunex Auto Services, 10460 Magnolia Ave., according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.
Five of the stolen vehicles have been recovered within a mile or mile- and-a-half from the shop, Hallock said.
An employee of the shop told investigators on Monday that one of the stolen cars — a red 2013 Hyundai Genesis — was parked in an alley several blocks away from the business, Hallock said.
The suspect driving was a Latino man wearing a black cap, white tank top and brown shorts. The passenger was a man, and the vehicle’s license plate number, 6WZT113, was covered by a paper plate from “OC Auto Exchange” in black and gold letters, Hallock said.
By the time investigators responded to the scene the vehicle was gone, Hallock said.
Anyone with information on the thefts was asked to call deputies at (714) 647-7000. Anonymous tips may be left with Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
