A fire did extensive damage to a machine shop in Santa Ana on Sunday, but no one was injured, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 11:50 a.m. at JB Tyler Industries in a commercial business complex in the 1600 block of East Edinger Avenue, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said.
The business was closed when the fire broke out, he said.
The first of 30 firefighters to arrive on scene encountered heavy smoke and fire, Kurtz said.
The blaze was brought under control by 12:15 p.m., he said.
The fire did an estimated $500,000 in damage to the machine shop, $300,000 to the structure and $200,000 to its contents, according to the OCFA.
Businesses on either side of the machine shop sustained moderate smoke damage, Kurtz said.
