A pit bull attacked a woman in her Placentia home Tuesday, landing the victim in a hospital with cuts to her face, hands and arms.

The woman’s family has a male and a female pit bull. The male dog attacked the woman, who’s in her 40s, for unknown reasons about 1:30 p.m. in her home in the 700 block of E. Yorba Linda Boulevard, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

The woman’s adult daughter ran out of the house to get help, and a tree trimmer working in the area ran into the residence and beat the dog off the woman with a broom, Concialdi said. The tree trimmer then shepherded the dog into another room, closed the door, and authorities were called, he said.

The woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, Concialdi said. Her name was withheld.
