Two teenage boys were in custody Fridayy on suspicion of a drive-by shooting that left a woman hospitalized with a leg injury.
The shooting appears to be part of a “gang war” with one gang venturing into rival territory about 8 p.m. Thursday, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
It’s unclear if the woman, who was shot in the lower leg in the 1700 block of North Spurgeon Avenue, was an intended target, Bertagna said. Her wounds were not considered life-threatening, Bertagna said.
Soon after the shooting, officers spotted the suspect vehicle and arrested two juveniles, whose names were not being released because of their age, Bertagna said. The victim’s name was also withheld.
Police recovered the weapon, he said.
