A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a drive-by shooting Friday about three blocks from El Modena High School in Orange.

The boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, which was reported at 4:45 p.m. near the intersection of Vine Avenue and South Rancho Santiago Boulevard, said Lt. Jeffrey Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment.

El Modena High School was locked down for a short time, Hallock said.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting was gang-related, Hallock said.

The suspect or suspects were believed to have been in a gray Honda, he said.
