A woman who fled a DUI checkpoint in Placentia Saturday was hospitalized in critical condition after crashing her vehicle at high speed.
The accident occurred at 1 a.m. when the 44-year-old suspect fled the checkpoint in the 300 block of Orangethorpe Avenue, Placentia Police Lt. Eric Point said.
The suspect ran a red light, continued to accelerate, then struck K- rails in a construction zone at the intersection of Orangethorpe and Thames Street and overturned, Point said.
No one else was injured, Point said.
