A 39-year-old convicted felon from Santa Ana was arrested Tuesday after leading Garden Grove police on a five-minute motorcycle chase after an attempted traffic stop, authorities said.
The chase began at 9:51 a.m. when a Garden Grove police officer tried to stop Nghia Tuan Nguyen for a traffic violation near Brookhurst Street and Jennrich Avenue, said Lt. Bob Bogue of the Garden Grove Police Department.
Nguyen, who was riding a 2007 black Kawasaki Ninja, initially pulled over, but then suddenly took off.
Nguyen led the officer on a chase through shopping complexes and residential streets before coming to a dead end to the rear of 12282 Brookhurst St., a commercial complex, Bogue said. He tried to flee on foot, but was quickly captured.
Nguyen was in possession of a .22 revolver and a flashlight Taser on his person, Bogue said.
Nguyen will be charged with being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, evading arrest and probation violation, Bogue said.
