A 13-year-old girl who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach was identified Monday as a Long Beach resident.

The teen, identified by the coroner as Mara Garcia, was struck at 8:45 p.m. Saturday on northbound PCH near the traffic signal at the entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach, between Goldenwest Street and Warner Avenue, Huntington Beach police Lt. Bo Svendsbo said.

She died at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, according to the coroner’s office.

The teen was hit by a red 2014 Chevy Camaro driven by a 62-year-old Huntington Beach man, who remained at the scene and answered officers’ questions before being released, police said.
