A trucker, possibly driving under the influence, crashed into at least 12 parked vehicles in Brea Saturday.

The impact in the 600 block of Birch Street pushed some of the vehicles into the front of some nearby homes, including a garage, that sustained some damage,  said Brea Police Sgt. John Hoetker. None of the homes were red tagged.

Some diesel fuel from the big rig’s tank also leaked out and a commerical hazardous materials team was at the scene for clean up, Hoetker said.

The trucker was going westbound on Birch Street, near Poplar Street and off the truck route when he struck the parked vehicle, he said.

The driver and his dog were not injured. He was arrested for driving under the influence, the police sergeant said, adding it was not immediately known if it was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
