The manager of a Westminster restaurant was held up at gunpoint by an armed robber, police said Wednesday.

The robbery occurred just before midnight Tuesday as the Taco Surf Mexican Cantina in the 6000 block of Westminster Boulevard was about to close, said Westminster Police Corp. Alan Aoki.

Aoki said the suspect, a masked man in his 30s, entered the restaurant through an open door and threatened staff before ordering the woman who manages the eatery at gunpoint to take him to the office safe.

Aoki said the robber took about $1,800 from the safe. No one was hurt, he said.
