A 21-year-old motorist was shot and critically wounded Sunday in a car-to-car shooting in a residential neighborhood in Santa Ana.

It was not clear from police where the shooting occurred, but officers were dispatched at 2:12 a.m. the 2300 block of West Harvard Street. That’s where the driver’s girlfriend called police to report that he had been shot, according to a crime report from the Santa Ana Police Department.

Two suspects were in a white, two-door stock Honda Civic, and had fired at the victim and his girlfriend as they were traveling in the victim’s vehicle, according to police.

Upon their arrival, officer found the victim seated in his car suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed the victim to an area hospital in critical condition, according the statement.

The shot-up car was discovered on a curving residential street, a block away from Valley High School, not far from Warner Avenue at Fairview Street on Santa Ana’s southwest side.
