A former children’s photographer convicted of molesting a juvenile relative was sentenced in Santa Ana Superior Court today to 10 years and eight months in state prison.
Isaac Krivashei, 75, of Mission Viejo will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life after a jury found him guilty on March 19 of two felony counts of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14 and one felony count of possession and control of child pornography, according to Roxi Fyad of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Krivashei was also subject to a sentencing enhancement for engaging in substantial sexual conduct with a child, Fyad said.
Krivashei was found guilty of engaging in acts that included oral copulation and masturbation with the female victim between Aug. 25, 2003 and Aug. 24, 2010.
The victim reported the crimes to a relative, who alerted the sheriff’s department, Fyad said.
Another relative also contacted the sheriff’s department to report that Krivashei had committed similar acts against her, but those alleged crimes occurred outside of the statute of limitations, so Krivashei could not be charged, according to Fyad
The sheriff’s department’s investigation of the more recent crimes resulted in Krivashei’s arrest after a search of his home turned up “numerous hard drives and computer files containing graphic images depicting children in sexual poses … ,” Fyad said.
The victim’s mother, father and aunts, as well as the other alleged victim, made impact statements in court Friday.
“She was no longer happy,” the girl’s mother said of her daughter. “She started having hysterical crying sessions that would seem to start for no reason, but would last for hours.”
At the time of the crime, Krivashei owned and operated his own photography business, Image Maker Photography, which specialized in taking school portraits and yearbook photos of children from elementary to high school, Fyad said.
