Sprinklers that extinguished a suspicious mattress fire in an apartment building in the city of Orange Monday morning caused water damage that displaced three residents, authorities said.

The blaze was reported at 12:15 a.m. in the Community Garden Apartments in the 4000 block of West Garden Grove Boulevard, Capt. Casey Fieldhouse of the Orange Fire Department said.

One suspect was arrested by police in connection with the fire, Fieldhouse said, but there were no details available about the reason for the arrest.

The water damage to the unit with the mattress fire and others was believed significant, he said.

No firefighters or civilians were injured, Fieldhouse said.
