A Gardena man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of robbing a bank in Irvine.
Michael Ladon Sheppard, 53, was arrested near the Parkwood Apartments complex in connection with the 10:40 a..m Tuesday robbery of a Union Bank branch at 5311 University Drive, according to Farrah Emami of the Irvine Police Department.
Sheppard allegedly had some of the stolen money on him when he was arrested.
Sheppard only got away with about $50 in change from the heist because the teller did not have a drawer from which to pull cash, FBI Special Agent Chris Gicking said.
