Two men who allegedly were caught in the act of trying to break into a commercial storage container in Irvine were behind bars Friday on suspicion of burglary and drug possession.

An Irvine police officer patrolling the neighborhood around Jeffrey Road and the Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway saw two men with bolt cutters trying to get into a storage container behind a supermarket about 5:45 a.m. Thursday, according to Farrah Emami of the Irvine Police Department.

The suspects’ getaway vehicle had a towel over the license plate, and when police searched it they found methamphetamine, heroin, drug paraphernalia, evidence of identity theft and burglary tools, Emami said.

Sean Anthony Alonso, 26, of Irvine, and Justin Andrew Cuen, 30, of Paramount, were booked on suspicion of commercial burglary and multiple drug offenses, Emami said.

Alonso was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail in Orange County Jail, according to records. Cuen was being held without bail.
