An armed suspect was been shot and wounded by officers in Santa Ana on Sunday.
No officers were injured in the shooting, which happened about 6:10 p.m. in the 800 block of South Townsend Street, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
“Officers came into contact with an individual with a weapon, there was an officer-involved shooting (and) the suspect was struck,” Bertagna said, adding that the male suspect was in stable condition after being taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The weapon was recovered at the scene, he said. He did not know if it was a gun.
The male’s age was not immediately available, Bertagna said.
It was not clear what led to the shooting.
