The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County dropped under $4 Monday for the first time since July 12 while Los Angeles County was among two regions in the state with an average above $4.

The Orange County average price dropped 1.5 cents to $3.989, the 18th consecutive daily decrease, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price has dropped 28.6 cents over the past 18 days, including 2.4 cents on Sunday. The decreases follow a seven-day stretch of increases totaling 77.8 cents that pushed the average price to its highest amount since May 6, 2014.

The Orange County average price is 14.9 cents less than one week ago but 49.9 cents more than one month ago and 5.7 cents higher than one year ago.

The Los Angeles County average price also dropped today for the 18th consecutive day, decreasing 1.3 cents to $4.018. The average price has dropped 28.4 cents over the past 18 days, including 2.6 cents on Sunday.

The decreases follow a seven-day stretch of increases totaling 75.7 cents that pushed the average price to its highest amount since May 4, 2014.

The Los Angeles County average price is 14.4 cents less than one week ago but 46.5 cents more than one month ago and 5.5 cents higher than one year ago.

Ventura County is the state’s only other region with an average price above $4 at $4.006. The lowest average is $3.224 in the Yuba City area in the Greater Sacramento area.
