
A pedestrian was struck by a big rig on a Stanton street Monday afternoon and died at a hospital, an Orange County sheriff‘s lieutenant said.
The collision occurred at 2:08 p.m. on southbound Beach Boulevard at Chapman Avenue, said Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The driver of the big rig was turning right from eastbound Chapman Avenue onto southbound Beach Boulevard when the truck struck the man, who was pronounced deat at UCI Medical Center, Hallock said.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation, he said, adding that there was no indication drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
Investigators were trying to locate witnesses and surveillance video footage to determine who was at fault, Hallock said.
