Alexander Berlimo, a Stanton resident who does not have a valid drivers license, was also treated at UCI Medical Center. His condition was not immediately known, said Lt. Bob Bogue of the Garden Grove Police Department.
About 3:40 a.m. the officer was going north on Knott Street in the number one lane when Berlimo drove south and crossed to the wrong side of the road at Stanford Avenue, Bogue said.
“The officer took evasive actions in an attempt to avoid a collision,” he said. “Unfortunately, the suspect vehicle collided with the officer’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained major damage.”
Bogue said Berlimo “displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage,” and was arrested for suspicion of felony drunken driving.
