Orange County sheriff’s investigators asked witnesses to come forward and help identify a hit-and-run driver who ran over a pedestrian, who would have been celebrating his 63rd birthday Friday.

William Soane Ye of Anaheim was struck about 10:45 p.m. Thursday on Beach Boulevard south of Orangewood Avenue in Stanton, according to sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

Investigators suspect Ye was struck by a northbound vehicle, and may have been jaywalking, Hallock said. He died at the scene.

Investigators recovered numerous parts of the vehicle that struck Ye, but have not yet determined its make and model, Hallock said. The vehicle likely sustained front-end damage, including to its headlamps, he said.

Anyone who saw the collision or has pertinent information was asked to call investigators at (714) 647-7000 or (949) 425-1860. Anonymous tips may be made by calling Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
