A woman tried to help a dog that was stranded on a cliff in Newport Beach on Friday afternoon and firefighters ended up having to rescue both.
The rescue, aired live during afternoon news broadcasts, took place about 4:30 p.m. in the area of Back Bay Drive and San Joaquin Hills Road.
The woman had climbed down to where the dog was stuck and both ended up stranded until a firefighter rappelled down to their location, fitted the woman with a harness and all three were hauled to safety.
