An employee of a motion picture technical firm was behind bars on suspicion of stealing high-end storage discs from work that investigators estimate are worth more than $300,000.

The discs contain up to a terabyte of space for data and are used for motion picture-quality cameras, according to police.

Todd Ryan Deck, 37, of Yorba Linda, was arrested on suspicion of felony grand theft at his workplace at Red Digital Cinema, according to Farrah Emami of the Irvine Police Department.

Deck is accused of stealing about 70 “high-end storage discs” over the past six months, Emami said.

Deck, arrested Wednesday, is accused of shipping the stolen discs to a buyer, who wasn’t aware of the alleged scheme, through company mail and funneling payment into his personal account, Emami said.
