Two men were killed and a third man was critically injured in Huntington Beach when a car crashed into a light pole.
The Orange County coroner identified the dead men as 18-year-olds Joshua Holmsen of Huntington Beach and Austin Mitchell, with no city of residence given.
The crash was reported at 2:08 a.m. Saturday at the northwest corner of Warner Avenue and Algonquin Street, said Huntington Beach Police Sgt. S. Shepherd.

Both deceased men were inside the 1997 Buick LeSabre and the critically injured man who appeared to be in his early 20s was found outside the vehicle and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Shepherd said. It was not clear whether the injured man was a pedestrian or ejected from the Buick.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the vehicle was traveling westbound on Warner Avenue at a high rate of speed and collided with a light pole at Algonquin Street,” he said. “It is not known if impairment was a factor.”
